Every existing "best ABA software" ranking is published by a software vendor — and in nearly every one, the publisher ranks itself first. The ABA Index exists to be the neutral alternative: a directory researched independently, funded transparently, and maintained continuously.
Profiles are compiled from primary sources: vendor documentation and websites, public review platforms, regulatory filings where relevant, and interviews with practicing clinicians and practice owners. We do not claim hands-on operation of these platforms — claims are attributed to their sources, and strengths and trade-offs are compiled from documented user experience, not our opinion.
Many vendors in this market do not publish pricing. We treat that as a fact worth reporting: listings show "Not published · contact vendor" rather than a guessed number, and we track which vendors publish pricing publicly. Where pricing appears, it comes from the vendor's published materials or direct written confirmation, with the verification date shown.
Listings begin as "verification in progress" and earn a dated VERIFIED badge once our team has confirmed core facts with the vendor or primary sources. Verified listings are re-checked on a recurring cycle, and every profile shows its status honestly. Stale information is corrected or removed, not left up.
Placement in the directory cannot be bought. Rankings and comparisons are never sold. Sponsored listings are accepted only with a visible "Sponsored" label and never affect editorial content or ordering. The site is independently operated: no vendor or service provider listed here holds any ownership stake, and no listing receives preferential treatment for any commercial reason.
Every error we find is published, with what we said and what it should have said — including the ones no reader had noticed. See the corrections log. Vendors and users can request a correction on any page; we verify against primary sources. Email [email protected].
Claiming every figure is sourced is easy. The data health report lists every dataset on the site, where it came from, how old the underlying schedule is, and what we withdrew because it could not be verified. It is generated from the data files rather than written by hand, so it cannot drift out of date.
