The ABA Index

ABA by state

Three questions get asked about every state — who provides ABA here, is there anyone qualified to deliver it, and what does it pay. The answers sit in three separate federal and professional datasets that nobody joins up. These pages join them up, one state at a time.

Nationally: 20,221 registered organizations,1 75,574 certified BCBAs — 10.3 per 10,000 children, or one for every 968.34

Reading the table. "Organizations" counts NPI records carrying the Behavior Analyst taxonomy code. "Companies" counts those with three or more registered locations nationally that have at least one here. "BCBAs / 10k kids" is certificants against the under-18 population. "Medicaid 97153" is the published fee-for-service hourly rate where we hold the schedule. "per-code" means we publish that state's per-code rates but no hourly figure, because its schedule states no time unit for 97153 or tiers the code without saying which tier the technician falls into. "sources" means the state has a page listing its official fee-schedule sources but no rate has been extracted yet; a dash means we do not hold the state at all. None of the three means the state pays nothing.

A registration is an address under a code — not an open clinic, and nothing about quality. Registration is not endorsement.
