Artemis ABA is unusual in this category for where it came from: not a clinic and not a venture-backed startup, but a medical billing services company. Thomas John, who founded and runs Plutus Health, spun Artemis out of it, and the company's own biography of him describes his role in that spin-off.1

Jim Vrtis was named its first chief executive in April 2021. The company's About page describes him not as a co-founder but as someone who joined soon after Thomas John founded the business; when John took the chief executive role himself, Vrtis became chief technology officer.25

No filing discloses the ownership relationship between Artemis and Plutus Health. The two are clearly connected through Thomas John, who is credited with the spin-off and leads both, but whether Artemis is a subsidiary, a sister company or separately held is not stated anywhere we could find.1

  • There is no published incorporation date. The Texas record shows a company chartered in another state, and we could not identify which.4
  • The ownership relationship between Artemis ABA and Plutus Health is not disclosed in any filing — whether subsidiary, sister company or separate entity.1
  • Dates on the company's own press releases cannot be relied on. Each release carries two conflicting dates — a page header and an in-body dateline — and for the chief-executive announcement the header is roughly eighteen months later than the announcement itself.
